A late C19th inlaid mahogany mantel clock with pagoda shaped top and lion mask handles, the enamel dial, Roman numerals, the French movement striking on a gong. 
 
The french movement is stamped medaille d'argent 
 
Medaille d' Argent is "Silver Medal" and refers to an award won by the company that made the clock. It is not a name. 
 
There were lots of exhibitions and competitions in France. Anyone who ever won a medal was free to say so on any clock they made.
