Antique Oak Tambour /Roll Top stationery box with writing slope 

An impressive large English Victorian writing box is rich solid Oak with a cast brass carrying handle. 
 
Once unlocked (complete with working taselled key not original), the top can be rolled back which in turn pushes the drawer below out which unfolds into a writing slope. Inside there is a pen tray and space or an ink well. 
 
The dome is fitted as a stationery cabinet, and once opened sits the perpetual calendar with the knobs at the top advancing and rewinding the fabric rolls inside to change the day, date and month, fully working. 
 
A superb and most unusual piece dating to the late Victorian/early Edwardian era.
